DVD Synopsis and information:
An Extraordinary Piece Of Film Making. Le Hollandais fine restaurant assures that every night is filled with class, and a muriad of tasty dishes with unsavory ambiance. A retched thief, played by wonderfully by Michael Gambon, continuously spews hatred and punishment out at this lovely dining establishment that is run by a steady French cook, played by Richard Bohringer, but under the thief's nose his spouse, played beautifully by Helen Mirren, is having an affair with a book nerd and is her lover, played by Alan Howard. When the cook, a thief, his wife, and her lover all get together there is a brutal and shocking absurdity of fine food, horrible murder, graphic sex and the main course of revenge.
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, And Her Lover has been called every thing from savage political satire to daring pornography, yet critics worldwide agree on one thing: In this courageous and challenging classic, writer/director Peter Greenaway has created nothing less than a cinematic feast for the senses.
